Championship Preview
The 2020 League! championship this year pits former “take that, take that “ roommates against each other as Tony and Billy face off in the playoffs for the first time ever.
Tony and Billy ended the season in 1st and 2nd place, making this just the 4th 1 vs 2 championship in history. Tony was The League! favorite for the majority of the year and was pretty much a lock to land the #1 seed after he went on a 6 game winning streak. Billy pulled a sneaky and snuck in late, stealing the #2 seed and crushing B Scott in the semis. Their regular season records explain what they’re doing here, but their playoff resumes couldn’t be further apart.
Billy is no stranger to championship appearances and doesn’t have to act like he’s been there - he’s been there. In his 6 playoff trips, this will be Billy’s 4th championship appearance. He has made it to the final game of the season every “even” year since 2014 - finishing 2nd in 2014, 1st in 2016 and 1st in 2018.
Tony, on the other hand, is in uncharted waters and may need to dust off his expelliarmus skills to hang in this one. It has been a decade since Tony’s last playoff appearance. Literally. The year was 2010, the swine flu was the plague of the year, and Iron Man 2 was making its theatrical premier. It was that same year that Tony made his first and only championship appearance. A championship in which he didn’t eclipse 100 points and swiftly was told to face Delts.

All time playoff stats
2020 has been a different story for Tony. He has averaged 160 points per game, scored the 2nd highest regular season points in modern era history, and tied the all time record with 5 weekly high points.
All time and of late, Billy has taken it, taken it to Tony - winning 6 of their 10 matchups and their one and only matchup this year in week 6.
A win for Billy will mean 3 bobbleheads in the past 5 years and put him in a tie with B Scott for the most bobbleheads all time.
A win for Tony will mean the largest bobblehead head The League! will ever see and leave Cox, Moeller and Smitty behind as the only bobbleheadless managers.
Tony is by far America’s pick, but no matter what happens someone will be making history and putting an exclamation point on the wicky wicky wildest season The League! will ever see.
